Steven P. Shepard

Steven P. Shepard is an aerospace engineer and research manager for Advanced Materials and Energetics at Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center. Steve studied at the University of Michigan, graduating magma cum laude with is BSE and MSE in aerospace engineering. He has written over 35 papers in fields including satellite propulsion and thermal control while designing and launching multiple satellites. Steve was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma when he was 28, having a football-sized tumor in his chest that was collapsing his lung and pushing down on his heart. Despite his difficult diagnosis, Steve tackled cancer head-on and voraciously read and studied his disease, being an active participant in his treatment plan. Steve followed this path to create a resource for cancer patients and caregivers to defeat their cancer and win the fight if their life.
